If you've ever visited Boise in after summer's come to a close then you know that the capital city is surrounded by gorgeous natural spaces that display breathtaking views during the autumn. Fall is one of the best times to go for a hike in Boise. The changing colors of the leaves, crisp mountain breeze and the serene isolation that makes you feel one with nature is only steps from the doors of Boise homes for sale. Plan to soak up the sunshine and spend time on one of the hiking trails our REALTORS® believe are the best in Boise.
- Around the Mountain
If there's one trail you need to visit this fall, make it Around the Mountain. Considered the jewel of Boise's trail system, 6.4 miles of hiking await you. Located in the Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area, the Around the Mountain trail will give you an amazing view of features both close and far. The Snake River Plain, Squaw Butte, and the Sawtooth Mountains are yours to gaze at. You can access Around the Mountain from either the Morningstar trail or Brewers Byway trail via the Deer Point trail.
- Stack Rock
Get ready to hike along Stack Rock and its newly constructed trail connection on the Ridge to Rivers trail system. The peak of Stack Rock reaches just below 6,000 feet. A four-mile hike each way earns you exceptional views if you're experienced enough to reach the very top. Bird watching along the trail is spectacular and there are plenty of opportunities for rock climbing. If you'd simply like to stroll with some company, feel free to grab a friend — even man's best friend, as this trail is dog-friendly.
- Mores Mountain Trail
Another amazing trail within the Bogus Basin, hiking the Mores Mountain Trail is the quickest way to take in the best views of the Boise National Forest. Part of the Shafer Butte trail system, three small loops ranging between one and two miles keep you at an elevation under 700 feet. This trail provides you with a speedy escape to nature, especially during the fall when the trails are much less crowded.
- Table Rock Trail
Not far from the center of Boise, Table Rock is one of the most popular trails around the city. Great for gazing upon the city and Treasure Valley, the Table Rock area features a handful of trails including the steep #15 which connects to the Table Rock Quarry Trail #17 and the short and sweet Shoshone-Paiute Tribes Loop #19. The trails in this area feature rough terrain that is easily disturbed by heavy storms. Since it's not a recommended hiking destination during the winter months, this trail system is a must-visit site during the fall.
- Dry Creek Trail
There's a gold rush near Boise every fall on the Dry Creek Trail. Wander through this loop joining the Shingle Creek for a 14-mile stretch and you'll be surrounded by gorgeous gold, red and orange leaves. Located in the foothills of Boise, this trail is not barren or dry like other trails in the foothills. Instead, a creek helps sustain plenty of foliage all year long which provide plenty of places to sit in the shade and take in the views.
